this is kind of out of the blue, but. ...do you want to go to the zoo with me?
[ WHY WAS THIS EMBARRASSING TO ASK?? ]
it's for this bingo thing. it says i need to pet a rabbit, and i'm pretty sure you'd smother me in my sleep if i went to pet something cute and didn't tell you, so.
[ WELP. Not that Yosuke hasn't messed around with chatroulette before, but actually talking to a random person over the phone? A little weird.
Still, he's got a stupid bingo box to mark off, so here we are. He at least uses a local area code, but otherwise mashes a few random numbers and waits to see who will pick up... ]
[ it's evening and ann's scrolling through retrospec when she gets a phone call from...an unknown number? she doesn't recognize who this is, certainly doesn't have them in her contacts. she hesitates, debating whether or not she should pick up--it's probably just a wrong number. she should tell them as such. ]
[ it's not totally unusual for mary to disappear for a night and spend it at a friend's place--sena's got a huge tv, a thermostat he's allowed to adjust and a freezer full of ice cream, after all--but yesterday was probably the first time that mary actually left because she was worried about something, not just because she felt like it. being on retrospec is...weird, and she can't get the image of the memory she had out of her head to save her life.
in the end, she hasn't really wanted to talk about it much, but that's stupid. there's one person who might understand the tiny little need for validation she has, the less mature part of her that saw a desk graffiti'd with insults about her and thought no one really thinks that instead of reacting to the entire situation itself. it's stupid, and childish, but--well, ann is arguably The Best Person and maybe she'll be able to help.
...if mary can bring it up. it's taken her most of the day to try and spit the words out, and it's not until she's in the bathroom of their dorm room, brushing her pigtails, that she speaks up, loudly enough to be heard in the other room, where no one can see her red cheeks, her unsure expression. ]
[ mary's always disappeared and ann's never really worried about her--okay, that's a lie. ann is always worried about mary because of her operations but she simultaneously trusts that the other girl knows what she's doing? so she's never really made a huge deal out of her roommate disappearing. it's less troublesome that way. they're pretty good at communicating with one another, anyway.
mary's one of ann's only friends--although she has made quite a bit through this bingo event--so it's no secret to mary that ann's gone through some tough times in high school. friendless, outcasted...mary would know all of that.
yet, ann doesn't think any of it when mary calls to her from the bathroom. ann's making coffee in the kitchen. ]
[It's one of his favorite pho shops. While he doesn't make it a habit of eating out very often, with his left arm bandaged up in a sling, it's obvious he's not cooking anything for awhile. Or, he's not cooking anything well.
But compared to how he felt when he sent out that distress signal, he can't complain. And pho-- and maybe a beer, honestly- would be a good destresser.
He waits for Ann outside, casually scrolling through his phone, to see what he missed... and also keeping an eye out for if anyone calls for help. It's not like he hasn't had to, after all.]
[ ann's a little late to arrive, but it looks like she'd rushed there, placing her hands on her knees and panting a little as soon as she gets to the restaurant. ]
Sorry I'm late!
[ admittedly she also got a little lost trying to find the place but she did it!! she made it.
when she looks up, though? she sees the sling around his arm and frowns. ]
[ as soon as ann gets to dunkin' donuts (it's not far away since she's in the dorms), her eyes scan the room for kurt and--there he is. there's her childhood friend. he's okay, he's alive and he exists. just like she knew he would.
the first thing ann does is make a beeline for him, throw her arms around him and pull him in for the tightest hug ever, not caring who's watching.
Well, I don't want hearts to suddenly fall out of my mouth or something when I say hello to him. That's embarrassing. So calling it is, I guess, even if I'd like to see him.
I'm guessing you and your crush got together? He sent me a text with a <3 at the end by accident. I'd like to give him an 8/10 for sweetness and looks. Oh, but if I'm assuming wrong and you're still very much single, I apologize.
I think I saw your boat drop out of the sky and into the ocean about an hour ago? At the beach. Alongside...a lot of other boats. Unfortunately the velocity didn't look very agreeable to it in the least, though...sorry.
